Public Housing

Applications are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment only.

 Please have the following on the day of applying:

• Birth certificate- all family members
• Social Security Card- all family members
• Drivers license or photo id - all adult family members
• Proof of income- i.e. check stub, copy of SSI or DIS check, SS award letter
• Copy of marriage license - if applicable
• Copy of divorce papers - if applicable
• Copy of legal separation papers - if applicable

Chester Powell Senior Apartments

The Chester Powell Apartments are conveniently located on Cedar Avenue in the heart of downtown South Pittsburg.  This is a four story building with (50) one bedroom units designed for independent living.  The apartments are for the elderly citizens of our community.  All units provide central heating/air and have furnished appliances.  There is a maintenance worker on site through the week and on call for the weekends and holidays.  SETHRA’s “Meals on Wheels” provides lunch through the week in the downstairs dining area, as well as transportation to nearby stores, Dr.’s offices, and banks.  Located behind the apartments is the Senior Activity Center.
